This recipe for a delicious, healthy Brazilian picadillo is a fantastic alternative to chilli con carne. Picadillo is a traditional dish made across Latin America. Most picadillo recipes have a base of beef mince and chopped tomatoes and the other ingredients vary depending on which country you’re in.

In this Brazilian version you’ll discover some amazing warming flavours from the cinnamon and cloves which are included in the spice mix. There is sweetness from the raisins which is countered by a savoury edge thanks to the olives and capers.

It’s a dish quite unlike anything you will have tasted before but because it’s very easy to make, it’s scalable and it has good macros, it is a dish you’ll definitely want to cook again.

Here’s How To Make The Brazilian Picadillo

1. To make the picadillo you’ll need to start things off by heating the coconut oil in a large pan on a medium/high heat

2. Add the onions, pepper and garlic to the pan and fry for a couple of minutes

3. Add the mince to the pan and cook for a few minutes until it has browned

4. Add the raisins, capers, olives chopped tomatoes, vinegar and all of the herbs and spices and mix through
